Arena rider guards provide comfort and safety for the horse and rider. Continuous slanted rider guards can be installed during building construction and may include “gate-style” sections across the various openings in the arena. The objective is to establish a minimum of 12” clearance between the horse hoof traffic and the vertical framing of the walls. This allows space for the rider’s knees and stirrups between the moving horse and the wall.
Rider guards are finished with either plywood or 2×6/2×8 Southern Yellow Pine tongue and groove lumber. Not only do rider guards improve safety, they also provide a finished look to the interior walls of your arena.
